Every 10 Seconds, a Dog Enters a Shelter.

Happy Endings

Heartworm Project rescues and their people are happy to have found each other. Making change through positive thinking and collaboration with others is how we strive to have a long-lasting impact.

The Heartworm Project

The Heartworm Project is a volunteer, 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation that provides medical care for shelter animals in need. Founded in 2004, the original purpose was to treat heartworm positive dogs at local shelters who were scheduled to be euthanized because of their illness. Since inception, we have expanded to include dogs and cats of all ages who need medical intervention that shelters are not capable of providing.  Although medical intervention remains our priority, we do also maintain a small adoption/fospice (foster/hospice) program.  Please check out our Facebook page for dogs and cats that are currently available.

The Heartworm Project also participates in several online fundraisers throughout the year, including MidlandsGives, which is the first Tuesday in May.  Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for all the latest information and dates!!
